Painting finished!

My tutor suggested that we might set up an exhibition in the Atrium Space in college, so here it is. I organised it, and six fellow students helped to set it up. All the work looks fantastic. For my part it is great to have my painting out of the studio to make room for another canvas, and it is good to see it out of the mess of my studio space!
The new canvas has a black primer/base colour which is going to be interesting for me. When it is finished I would have made three large paintings. It would be great to see them exhibited together. I will have to work on that at college.
I plan to work on a smaller scale for the rest of the year...famous last words??

Krystina did the plaster beast in front of my painting and I think that they look great together!

Results in!

Well  we have our results. For me it was a surprise. I did not expect to do so well in the studio unit as I felt that I have been all over the place with my work. I had worked extremely hard and had really stretched myself, but was insecure about the outcomes. I managed an A.

My essay was not so good and I think that I have to accept that this part of the degree is always going to be a struggle however long I  take over it ..... scraped a B/C

Last week I stepped into a skipe session between UCA and two French colleges. Interesting. The small screen shape on the bottom right is what they could see of us. Interactive drawing! We did an impromptu performance of Nadja's knitted sleeves. If you want to know more you will have to follow the redthreadtrail on blogspot.

Last week I put a painting into a local Art charity auction on Saturday. Spot the painting!

The Atelier Project

Our research practise 4 includes a project where we have to research and find suitable venues for our work. We can work on our own or with others and I have teamed up with Nadja and Rachel. We are all doing separate projects but are pulling them all together and documenting them through a blog. redthreadtrail.blogspot.com. You can follow our projects through our blog. I plan to do a home showing of some of my short art films along with some on Sonja's and Nadja's animation films. This will happen on 23rd February. It is the first of my exhibition projects so it is the one that I am focusing on now. Today I made a plinth for the projector. On Friday I have to make a poster.

Here is a pewter medal that I made inspired, and in honor of Malala Yousafzai and other brave young people who strive for an education that we take for granted. It is for the British Museum medal exhibition/competition. It is sandblasted on the underneath.
